Fc twente wanted to increase stadium capacity by further extending the l shaped extension completed in 2008 into a u shaped one. The construction was to expand the stadium s capacity from 24 000 to 30 000 with a new tier of seats. The new stadium was officially opened on 29 october with a competition match against psv eindhoven 2 2.
